Trading Manager
Role Outline
GDM Digital is a platform traded media business, using RTB technology to supply our clients with global inventory, and optimise campaigns to ensure maximum ROI for our clients. The candidate will oversee GDM Digital’s display trading activity across a number of different technology systems; managing junior executives to ensure that campaigns are effectively optimised. The trading manager will report to the directors and is responsible for presenting weekly team forecasts, as well as end of month financial reporting and invoicing. The candidate will keep the rest of the team abreast with new product developments within the RTB market for display, video and mobile, and will be responsible for managing the introduction of new product offerings for the company. The role requires an individual with strong analytical capabilities, especially the use of Excel, as well as a client facing manner.
Responsibilities
- Create client proposals for new business
- Attend client meetings to present proposals and discuss campaign strategies
- Manage clients’ budgets while running online advertising campaigns
- Negotiate inventory prices from suppliers
- Train up new Account Executives
- Set up campaigns across Appnexus, Invite Media and Right Media
- Create and manage client reports in MS Excel
- Manage optimisation of junior account executives
- Act as a first point of contact for your clients
- Invoice clients
- Look after P&L across all clients
Key Skills
- Excellent MS Office skills with an emphasis on Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Experience working agency or client side with DSPs (particularly Appnexus, Invite and Right Media)
- Strong prioritisation, time management and organisational skills
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- Confidence and professionalism when talking to clients and suppliers
- Managerial experience

Junior media trader
Our media traders are at the heart of GDM Digital, and help us to buy our clients media with the biggest bang for buck. This role is not your typical media role; requiring more of an emphasis on mathematical analysis than on creative design skills. Our traders use online trading platforms, or in the language of our industry, DSPs, to set up online campaigns to ensure that our advertiser client's segment is targeted effectively; resulting in maximum campaign performance. Traders analyse the performance of campaigns in Excel across a number of factors, including the time of day, site URL and creative size; making changes to the set up as to ensure we are generating maximum sales or brand impact.
The successful applicant will initially be trained on our technology systems, together with Excel. Over the first few months of the role they will learn what it takes to make campaigns perform, getting deeply involved in the intricacises of analysis and become familiar with the industry by reading industry news and subsequent blogging. After this period it is expected that the applicant will take on client relationships; writing weekly reports, attending meetings and writing proposals.
Candidate Requirements
- A minimum 2:1 from a top university (ideally in a mathematical/economic/financial discipline)
- An active interest in digital media
- Good analytical and quantitative skills and the ability to make information-based decisions
- Computer literate with competency in all basic Office programs (including Excel)
- Enjoy working in a team environment
- Experience in digital media is a plus
- Fluency in a second language is a benefit
Business Development Executive
As part of GDM Digital’s growth we are looking for an ambitious Junior Sales Executive to work as part of our new business team. The new business team works alongside the media trading team, and helps increase the awareness of our products and services within the UK and further afield.
The candidate will initially receive training on our technology systems, and will spend their time reading industry news in order to gain a greater understanding of our particular part of the online media market. After which the candidate will become involved in lead generation, proposal writing and client presentations.
GDM Digital has a meritocratic and entrepreneurial environment which allows for ample opportunities for promotion and the pursuit of individual areas of interest. Remuneration within a sales role is competitive, with bonuses rewarded dependent on individual performance.
Candidate Requirements
- A minimum 2:1 from a top university
- 1+ years sales experience
- A consultative sales style
- The ability to manage your own sales pipeline and hit targets
- Top notch presentation skills
- A solid understanding of online display advertising
- Great communication and numerical skills
- Computer literate with good skills in all basic Office programs (including Excel)

Interview
If you have been invited to come for an interview with us, well done! It means that we’d like to get to know you better and see what you can do.
Working in digital media isn’t as easy as it seems (it’s not all tweeting and facebook liking!) so we will be testing you on your skills, this will depend on the job on offer but generally there will be a short Excel test and a presentation to complete. We recommend that you use our website, together with industry resources to inform yourself about real time bidding, as there will likely be questions relating to your knowledge of the industry in the interview itself.
We also like to get to know our prospective team members, so be prepared to tell us a bit about you, even if it's little things like whether you like sushi, are good at darts or enjoy climbing mountains in your spare time.
The interview will fly by and you can expect it to last around an hour or so, in that time you will meet various members of the team, so you can get to know some of us too! Be prepared, relax and be yourself. And if all goes well, you’ll be back for our final interview and in the office a lot more.
